Contract Amount:

Completion Date:

Work Description:
Conveniently located on the three rivers, Heinz Field is home to the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Because of our experience working with the engineer and stadium personnel on previous projects, the Steelers retained CPS to replace the architectural expansion joints in the club level, suite corridors and press box.

The work consisted of removing the existing expansion joints, repairing the concrete block-out and leveling the surface two feet beyond the expansion joint in both directions to maintain compatibility with the new carpet that was also being installed.

After the concrete repair work and leveling was completed, the existing fire barrier was replaced and CPS installed a seismic expansion joint with stainless steel cover plates. The custom system was engineered specifically for this project by Watson Bowman Acme.

The complicated directional changes and fast-tracked schedule presented challenges throughout the project. The rail system had to be measured, cut on-site and installed into the new block-out. The stainless steel cover plates were mitered on-site, temporarily anchored to verify alignment, field drilled, pinned and refastened after the new carpet was installed. CPS received high marks from the Engineer for our exceptional craftsmanship.
